Elon Musk is prepared to transform X (Twitter) into a super app similar to WeChat, the renowned Chinese application.
Last week, Elon Musk posted on X, stating, "It will provide extensive communication features and offer financial management capabilities." Elon Musk aims to enhance X's growth to boost revenue, particularly after the company experienced a nearly 50% drop in advertising revenue since his acquisition of Platform X.
11 years ago, the tech giant Tencent launched WeChat in 2011. Today, there are nearly 1.4 billion WeChat users in China, ranking it as one of the top super apps offering a combination of messaging, voice and video calls, social media, food delivery, mobile payments, gaming, news, and even dating – essentially combining features from WhatsApp, Facebook, Apple Pay, Uber, Amazon, Tinder, and more into one app.
It appears that Elon Musk is currently developing 'X' for many countries in the US, Europe, and Asia. It is highly likely that 'X' will evolve into a social media aggregation platform, functioning as a super app for global digital payments.
